Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli says that the team have improved this season, despite sitting fifth in the Premier League midway through the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli has suggested that the team are still not quite the finished product, but are continuously improving.

Mauricio Pochettino's side have finished third and second in the Premier League in the last two seasons, but in the current campaign the club are not even inside the top four.

As it stands, Spurs are fifth in the table after 21 games and sit 20 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City.

Second-placed Manchester United have a seven-point advantage over Tottenham, who also have Chelsea and Liverpool in their way.

"At the start of the year, we wanted to win the league," Alli told Sky Sports News. "It was important to show we were improving. Maybe if you look at the stats it's different but, as a team, we're still improving, we're still learning about each other.

"Of course, we want to be in the top four but we can't get too drawn into the league and the table and what teams are doing around us. We just have to focus on ourselves and try to win every game."

Tottenham have won their last three league games on the trot, scoring 10 goals in the process.
