Roy Hodgson praises Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino

England boss Roy Hodgson says that he is pleased to see Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino give English youngsters the opportunity to play first-team football.

England manager Roy Hodgson has stated that he is pleased to see Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino give English youngsters a chance to play first-team football.

Spurs duo Dele Alli and Eric Dier recently made their debuts for the Three Lions and they, along with Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Kyle Walker, were two of five Spurs players in the England squad for the games against Spain and France during the last week.

Hodgson has suggested that more Premier League sides should be looking to follow Tottenham's lead.

"Tottenham is a team that is interesting for me to watch because when I go there I sometimes get to see as many as five Englishmen," Hodgson told the FA's official website.

"There are some teams when I go to watch them and there isn't one Englishman in the team. They might be a very good team, who play nice football, but they are not a lot of good to me because they don't play Englishmen.

"We are delighted that Tottenham have gone down this route and Pochettino, in particular, for giving players he thinks have quality a chance."

Alli scored his first goal for England in the win over France on Tuesday.
