Sir Geoff Hurst tips Harry Redknapp for England

Sir Geoff Hurst believes Harry Redknapp should be the next England manager.

England legend Sir Geoff Hurst believes that Harry Redknapp should replace Fabio Capello as the England manager.

The Italian has publicly stated his intentions to step down as the Three Lions boss after the European Championships this summer.

Tottenham manager Redknapp has been widely touted as a possible replacement and received the backing of Hurst when the 1966 World Cup hero spoke to BBC 5 Live.

"Having had two foreign coaches who haven't achieved much, I'd give someone from this country a go," said Hurst.

"Harry Redknapp would be my choice. He can manage players and he is popular with the press, which helps take the pressure off."

Redknapp confirmed this evening that he will be returning to the dugout tomorrow following minor heart surgery.
