Harry Kane named in England squad, Charlie Austin misses out

Harry Kane receives his first England senior call-up having been named in Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson's latest 24-man squad.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been rewarded for his impressive form at club level this season by receiving his first England senior call-up.

The 21-year-old, who has scored 26 goals in 42 appearances for Spurs this term, is part of the 24-man Three Lions squad for games against Lithuania and Italy later this month.

There is also good news for Kane's Tottenham teammate Kyle Walker, who has been named in the travelling party for the first time since November 2013.

Charlie Austin misses out, however, despite scoring 15 goals this term, with Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge instead given the nod. Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert also misses out having struggled for first-team football since his move to Anfield.

In midfield, Aston Villa's Fabian Delph is welcomed back into the fold having missed the November internationals through injury, and he will be joined by Reds duo Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson among others.

Elsewhere, Roy Hodgson has taken the decision to name just two goalkeepers in his squad due to the injury absence of Ben Foster.

England currently top their Euro 2016 qualifying group with four wins from four ahead of their meeting with Lithuania, which precedes a friendly encounter with Italy at Juventus Stadium.

England squad in full:

Goalkeepers: Fraser Forster (Southampton), Joe Hart (Man City)

Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Phil Jones (Man United), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Man United), Kyle Walker (Tottenham)

Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Michael Carrick (Man United), Fabian Delph (Aston Villa), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Man City), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Andros Townsend (Tottenham), Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham), Wayne Rooney (Man United), Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal)
