Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown says that Tottenham Hotspur could win this season's Premier League title.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could win the Premier League title this season.

Spurs opened their 2019-20 campaign with a 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Saturday afternoon, with Harry Kane scoring twice in the latter stages to hand Mauricio Pochettino's side all three points.

Keown, who won three Premier League titles during his time with the Gunners, has insisted that Tottenham have a chance of finishing above the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool this term.

"Our neighbours just down the road, Tottenham, listen they never had a home last season, they had nine players involved in the latter stages of the World Cup and they made it to a Champions League final," Keown told talkSPORT.

"Why can't they win the league? They will be thinking that now they've bought players, last season they didn't buy anyone."

Spurs finished last season in fourth spot in the Premier League table, some 27 points behind the eventual champions City.
