Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has revealed that he was fit to play against Newcastle United last weekend, despite being dropped.
The Frenchman was not part of the starting lineup that lost 1-0 to the Magpies at White Hart Lane after he was knocked out briefly during Tottenham's goalless draw with Everton the week before.
Despite falling unconscious when Romelu Lukaku's knee connected with the shot-stopper's head, Lloris was given the all clear to finish the match.
"I feel good," Sky Sports News quotes Lloris as saying. "I was unconscious for a few seconds, but I was ready to play last weekend. The medical staff preferred me not to."
Lloris also sat out of Tottenham's victory over Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League.
