Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason heaps praise on ex-Spurs teammate Erik Lamela, saying that the Argentine has the ability to "create a bit of brilliance".

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has heaped praise on ex-Spurs teammate Erik Lamela, saying that the Argentine has the ability to "create a bit of brilliance".

Lamela, who spent 13 months on the sidelines with injury, returned to action in November and started his side's last two games against Rochdale and Crystal Palace respectively.

Mason told BBC Radio 5 live that Lamela's love for the game has allowed the winger to return from injury in impressive form.

"[Lamela] is one of these players, he loves football, I've never come across anyone in the game that loves the game as much as him," the 26-year-old said. "The reason why the gaffer picks him is because one, he trusts him and two, he will never ever give anything less than 100%.

"He's got this ability to create a bit of brilliance. Coco's had such a long spell out and he's come back and looks fit and strong.

"Full credit to him, it's only because he loves the game and I know he will have been doing absolutely everything in his power to come back and be strong for the gaffer."

Spurs' Premier League meeting with Huddersfield Town on Saturday is followed by the Champions League last-16 return leg with Juventus at Wembley.
