Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur fans 'still love' Kyle Walker, despite booing the full-back on his first appearance for Manchester City against his former side.
The England international played 75 minutes of the Citizens' 3-0 win over Spurs late on Saturday night, often finding himself on the receiving end of boos when touching the ball.
Lilywhites boss Pochettino says that Walker's treatment in Nashville was entirely understandable, as the defender still holds a firm place in scorned supporters' hearts following his near-decade long stint in North London.
"I totally understand. Fans showed they are disappointed with the situation but the Tottenham fans love him really," he told reporters. "He spent nine years at the club. It is not personal. It is not a big issue. It is only to show him they were disappointed he left."
Walker, who featured 39 times in his final campaign with Spurs, is thought to have cost the Citizens an upfront fee of £45m to sign.
