Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min says that he needs to be ready to make an impact when called upon in any game for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min has said that he needs to be ready to make an impact when called upon in any game for Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The comments come following Spurs' 5-1 win over Stoke City, in which the South Korean international scored his side's second goal after the break.

Son, who has failed to cement a starting place in Pochettino's lineup since joining Spurs in 2015, has said that he must work hard for a continued run in the team after teammate Erik Lamela returned from a long-term injury.

"You never know when your chance is coming," Son told the Evening Standard. "You always have to be ready and you have to always be there.

"Sometimes you're going to play 20 minutes or 10 minutes or 90 minutes. I'm just thinking that whenever I'm on the pitch, I need to make something happen and help my teammates."

Lamela, who came on as a substitute for Dele Alli against Stoke, is back in consideration for Spurs' first team after 13 months on the sidelines with a hip problem.
