Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly close to confirming former Juventus chief Fabio Paratici as their new director of football, despite Antonio Conte talks breaking down.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the appointment of former Juventus transfer chief Fabio Paratici, despite the pursuit of Antonio Conte breaking down.

Paratici worked with Conte at Juventus and Daniel Levy had hoped to bring both of them to North London this summer, but talks with Conte broke down last week.

The 48-year-old is expected to join Spurs as their new director of football and he will assist Levy on negotiations to bring new players into the club, starting a squad rebuild to provide a stronger challenge in the Premier League next season.

According to The Mirror, one of Paratici's first jobs will be to help with the hunt for a new manager, after many names have been linked with the vacant role left by Jose Mourinho.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return to Spurs, along with Roberto Martinez, Graham Potter and Eddie Howe amongst others.

Paratici will also be working on a potential new contract for attacker Son Heung-min and attempting to convince Harry Kane to stay at Spurs.
