West Bromwich Albion hold Tottenham Hotspur to 1-1 draw

West Bromwich Albion hold Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 draw on Boxing Day.

West Bromwich Albion have held Tottenham Hotspur to a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.

Christian Eriksen scored his first Premier League goal to give Spurs the lead on 36 minutes when he curled in a free kick.

However, the Baggies restored parity moments later when Jonas Olsson poked home after some poor defending from the home side.

The Baggies had a chance on 14 minutes when Zoltan Gera and Matej Vydra played a one-two to send the latter through and his effort almost snuck through before Hugo Lloris made the save.

The French stopper had to be alert again minutes later to deny Vydra as he leapt off his goal-line to smother the ball.

The visiting Baggies came within inches of scoring on the half-hour mark, but Diego Lugano narrowly missed getting on the end of a cross with his head.

Danny Rose came close with an effort six minutes after the restart when he hammered a long-range effort goalwards.

Nacer Chadli nearly teed up Emmanuel Adebayor with 15 minutes left but his cut-back narrowly missed his teammate.
