Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly pay less than £30m in compensation if they do decide to part company with manager Jose Mourinho this summer.

The Portuguese boss, who is said to be earning around £15m a year, is understood to be due a bumper pay-off should the North London club decide to sack him before his current contract expires in 2023.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Mourinho's payout depends on Tottenham's league position and whether they qualify for Europe.

Failure to reach the Champions League or Europa League would see his entitlement reduced if he were to lose his job.

Spurs are still in with a chance of lifting silverware for the first time since 2008 when they take on Manchester City in the League Cup final this month, but victory in that competition would only secure a place in the inaugural Europa Conference League which the Spurs hierarchy do not consider a top-level European competition.

Tottenham remain in the hunt for a top-four place in the Premier League but suffered a setback last weekend after a disappointing 2-2 draw against relegation-threatened Newcastle United.
