Eriksen: 'Contract talks not hindering game time'

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen insists that his marginal lack of game time this season is not a result of failing to pen a new contract.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has said that he does not feel like he is being treated differently for failing to pen a new contract.

With less than a year remaining on his existing deal, Eriksen is expected to leave Spurs in one of the next two transfer windows.

The Dane has sometimes been left out of Mauricio Pochettino's starting lineup or 18-man squad this season, leading to suggestions that his omissions are down to factors behind the scenes.

However, while acknowledging the difference in game time, Eriksen insists that Spurs still regard him as one of the club's key men.

The playmaker told Danish outlet BT: "I feel 100% that Tottenham has complete confidence in me. There is not that big a difference, except that I play a little less this year.

"I don't feel there is a connection between my contract situation and the fact that I haven't played as many matches."

Eriksen has made eight starts and six substitute outings in all competitions during the current campaign.
