Kane 'unhappy with Tottenham contract offer'

A report claims that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has put contract talks on hold as he is unhappy with the wage structure put in place by chairman Daniel Levy.

Harry Kane has reportedly demanded a pay packet of at least £120,000 a week before agreeing to put pen to paper on a new Tottenham Hotspur deal.

Talks over fresh terms between both parties are understood to have been put on hold, as the England international is instead only focused on returning to full fitness.

According to The Telegraph, however, it was purely Kane's decision to put a halt to things due to an unhappiness over his proposed weekly salary, which is said to fall well short of the sum handed over to certain other Tottenham stars.

It is claimed that chairman Daniel Levy's tight grip on the wage bill means that no Spurs player will take home more than £100,000 a week, with Hugo Lloris currently the top earner on around £80,000.

Kane's contract, signed in February last year, is understood to be worth £60,000, but the same report suggests that Levy's unwillingness to significantly increase his pay has led to the current standoff.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are among those to have been linked with the 23-year-old, who will remain under contract at White Hart Lane until 2020.
