Alvaro Pereira to swap clubs with Benoit Assou-Ekotto?

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to swap Benoit Assou-Ekotto for Inter Milan defender Alvaro Pereira, according to reports.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Inter Milan defender Alvaro Pereira as a possible new arrival as the transfer deadline quickly approaches.

According to The Metro, Andre Villas-Boas is willing to exchange Benoit Assou-Ekotto for the Uruguay international.

Despite becoming a first-team regular under former manager Harry Redknapp, Assou-Ekotto's place in the squad seems to be under threat due to the emergence of Kyle Naughton and a number of recent injuries.

The Cameroon international joined the club from Lens for £3.5m in 2006 and has made 175 appearances during his time at White Hart Lane.

However, Villas-Boas appears keen to add Pereira to his squad having previously worked with the 27-year-old while in charge of Porto.
