Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has ruled out selling Danny Rose to Sunderland on a permanent deal.
Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill recently claimed that he wanted to extend the on-loan defender's stay at the Stadium of Light.
However, Villas-Boas believes that the England Under-21 international is too good a player to let go.
"A permanent move is impossible because we have great expectations for the player, he has a bright future," he told reporters. "We appreciate what he's been doing over here and it's been a great experience.
"He's been extremely well managed. We can't give away a player of his quality."
Rose was ineligible to play against his parent club on Saturday as Spurs earned a 2-1 win at Sunderland in the Premier League.
