Reading are reportedly preparing a £12m offer for Tottenham Hotspur and England striker Jermain Defoe.
The 29-year-old is unsure over his White Hart Lane future after he was only used sparsely by Harry Redknapp last season.
New Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas is apparently keen to hold on to Defoe, but the forward is still considering his options.
With Emmanuel Adebayor closing in on a £5m permanent deal and Spurs also chasing Leandro Damiao, Reading are ready to offer Defoe a way out of White Hart Lane.
The Royals have already boosted their forward line this summer with the signing of former Fulham striker Pavel Pogrebnyak.
