Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City reportedly identify Juventus defender Cristian Romero as a summer transfer target.

Juventus defender Cristian Romero has reportedly emerged as a summer transfer target for Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Romero is currently midway through a two-year loan period at Atalanta BC, who possess the option to sign the Argentina international next year.

However, according to Calciomercato, Man City and Spurs monitoring the situation having been left impressed by the 23-year-old's development.

As well as emerging as a key player for Atalanta, Romero was named in the team of the tournament after helping his country win the Copa America.

The report acknowledges that Atalanta want to retain the services of the player, which remains the likely scenario for the 2021-22 campaign.

Atalanta are happy to pay the €16m (£13.62m) clause in their agreement with Juventus to complete a permanent transfer.
