Tottenham Hotspur to complete club-record Tanguy Ndombele signing this week?

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly hopeful of completing their £65m club-record signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon by the end of the week.

Tottenham Hotspur are optimistic that they will be able to complete a club-record deal for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele by the end of this week, according to a report.

The Champions League runners-up are understood to have agreed a fee of around £65m with Lyon for the 22-year-old, smashing their previous transfer record of £42m for Davinson Sanchez in 2017.

Personal terms are yet to be finalised, but the Daily Mail reports that Ndombele has already visited Tottenham's training ground and is on the verge of putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

The France international caught the eye with a string of impressive performances in Ligue 1 and the Champions League last season, scoring three goals and creating seven more in 49 appearances across all competitions.

The likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus had all been linked with a move for Ndombele, but Spurs have seemingly beaten those European giants to his signature and hope to have a deal wrapped up by July 1.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to have made signing a new central midfielder his top priority in the transfer window after losing Mousa Dembele in January.

Spurs, who have not made a single signing since Lucas Moura in January 2018, are also on the verge of completing a deal for Leeds United winger Jack Clarke.
