Tottenham Hotspur will open talks with Everton over the potential signing of midfielder James McCarthy this week, according to reports.
The Scottish-born Republic of Ireland international has reportedly grown frustrated with life on Merseyside as the Toffees are yet to offer him an improved contract.
The Mirror claims that Spurs are confident that a deal will be done despite Everton's insistence that the player is not for sale.
McCarthy is understood to be keen to move to White Hart Lane and end his six-year spell under manager Roberto Martinez, who signed him for Everton from their former club, Wigan Athletic, in 2013.
The 24-year-old cost the club £13m.
