Tottenham Hotspur 'to trigger Erik Lamela contract extension clause'

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly prepare to trigger an extension clause in Erik Lamela's contract.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning to add another year to Erik Lamela's contract by triggering a clause in it.

The Argentine striker is tied to the club until the end of next season but, according to The Independent, Spurs have the right to extend his stay for another year.

The London outfit are said to be keen to trigger the extension clause to ward off reported interest from clubs in Italy, Spain, Portugal and France.

Lamela's Spurs career was disrupted by a hip injury which kept him sidelined for more than a year, but the South American has made 10 starts for the club in recent months, along with 18 substitute appearances.

The forward signed for Spurs from Roma in 2013, in a deal worth £27m.
