Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an enquiry to sign Roma central defender Roger Ibanez during the summer transfer window, according to a report.
The 23-year-old enjoyed a productive 2021-22 campaign under Jose Mourinho in Rome, making 51 appearances for the club in all competitions, helping them to a sixth-placed finish in Serie A, as well as lifting the Europa Conference League trophy.
Ibanez's impressive form over in Italy has led to rumours of interest from the Premier League this summer, and Calciomercato are reporting that Spurs, as well as Newcastle United, have enquired over the defender's availability.
The report suggests that both sides are prepared to offer a fee of around £30m to secure his signature, despite the Brazilian's contract containing an £80m release clause.
Antonio Conte has been eager to strengthen his Spurs back three during the current transfer window, being heavily linked with moves for the likes of Alessandro Bastoni and Gleison Bremer, both of whom also ply their trade in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe has eyed up targets at the heart of his defence ever since January, during which he secured the services of Brighton & Hove Albion's Dan Burn, but after failing in a move to sign Lille's Sven Botman, the Magpies are said to remain interested in the Dutchman this summer too.
Ibanez joined Mourinho's Roma side for around £7m from fellow Serie A outfit Atalanta only last summer following a successful 18-month loan deal.
