East Fife fight back to win first leg of playoff final

East Fife come from behind to win the first leg of the Scottish League One playoff final against Stirling Albion 2-1.

East Fife came from a goal down in the second half to win the first leg of their Scottish League One playoff final against Stirling Albion 2-1 this evening.

The visitors had a chance to take the lead just 11 minutes into the tie when Kevin Smith tried to squeeze the ball in from the left-hand side, but his effort was palmed away.

Graham Weir and Jordan White had the best of the early opportunities for Stirling, but Weir's finish was high while White's was straight at the keeper.

The home side continued to create the majority of the chances in the opening 45 minutes, and took the lead when Ross Forsyth headed in from a Darren Smith corner.

East Fife were almost level less than three minutes into the second half as Marc McKenzie tried his luck from outside the box, but saw his shot parried over.

The visitors did get back on level terms with just over 20 minutes still to play following a strong spell of possession, as Craig Johnstone picked out Scott McBride from a corner.

East Fife continued to push as full time approached, and managed to take the lead for the first time in the 89th minute through another headed goal as Nathan Austin converted from a Johnstone ball into the box to secure the win.
