Tom Ince: 'Stoke City must start to man up'

Midfielder Tom Ince says that Stoke City must start to "man up" if they are to begin to move up the Championship table.

Midfielder Tom Ince has criticised Stoke City's start to the season, claiming that they need to "man up".

The Potters have registered just two points from four games in the Championship, and the club's supporters booed their side during and after the 3-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night.

Stoke host Hull City this weekend, and Ince has called on the team to 'start taking more risks and responsibility' to prevent visiting teams becoming encouraged at the bet365 Stadium.

The summer signing is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "We have to man up and, in effect, grow some balls and make sure now that we put ourselves on the line and actually show some hunger to put things right.

"If we don't, teams will come here and do what Wigan did. We have to realise teams are going to come here and see Stoke City as a scalp. We have to show our quality - we have it in abundance - but at the minute we are not showing it.

"We are not taking risks, we are not taking responsibility, we are hiding when things are going wrong and we can't capitulate like we do."

Stoke currently sit in 22nd place in the second-tier standings.
