Stoke City boss Mark Hughes receives vote of confidence

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes still has the "full support" of the club's hierarchy despite a poor start to the season, insists Potters chairman Peter Coates.

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has insisted that Potters boss Mark Hughes has the "full support" of the club's hierarchy despite a disappointing start to the 2016-17 campaign.

Stoke currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League table on one point having lost four of their five league matches this season - including a 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

However, Hughes, who confessed at the weekend that performances have 'not been good enough' this season, has been handed a vote of confidence by Coates.

"We are obviously disappointed with the start we've made but Mark and the management team have our full support," Coates told The Telegraph.

"He is a very experienced manager and knows what it takes to get results in the Premier League. It's still very early in the season and while these results obviously can't go on forever, we're convinced that things will change."

Stoke will attempt to return to winning ways when they welcome Hull City to the Britannia in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday night.
