Preview: Stoke City vs. Wigan Athletic

Peter Crouch is hoping to return to the Stoke City lineup after having to deal with severe headaches while Roberto Martinez is hoping for a repeat of last year's end-of-season heroics at the Brittania Stadium.

Tony Pulis is hoping that Peter Crouch will be able to make a return for the Potters when they welcome Wigan to the Britannia Stadium on New Year's Eve.

The Englishman has missed the last two outings because of a virus which caused severe headaches but is expected to recover in time to face Roberto Martinez's men.

Robert Huth, however, faces a late fitness test after picking up a knock in the goalless draw with Aston Villa on Boxing Day and may be replaced by Matthew Upson.

For the Latics, Connor Sammon will be available for selection after his red card from the defeat at Manchester United was rescinded by the FA.

Hugo Rodallega will be hoping to either oust Sammon or partner him up front, having fallen out of favour recently.

Returning to the Brittania will bring back fond memories for the visitors after their final day escape from relegation earlier this year in May when they stole a 1-0 win and ensured Premier League football this season.
