Tony Pulis thinks that 40 points will be enough to see Stoke City survive relegation this season.

Stoke City boss Tony Pulis has insisted that 40 points will be enough to stay in the Premier League.

The Potters were beaten 2-0 by Manchester United this afternoon and are now just three points above the relegation zone.

Pulis insists that six points from their final five games will be enough and says the players just need a break.

"I'd still say 40 points [will mean survival]," Pulis said after the game.

"We've got a pretty good goal difference, so for us to get to 40 with the goal difference [we would be safe]. I've just spoken to the players, it's a five game season.

"I think we've got good players, we just need a break. Today we've given away two sloppy goals, we got ourselves back in the game against Aston Villa and [Matthew] Lowton smashes one in from 35 yards."

Stoke's next game is away at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
