Mark Hughes hints at quiet January

Stoke boss Mark Hughes does not expect the club to be busy during the January transfer window.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has hinted that the club will not be overly active during the January transfer window.

The Potters have climbed up to 11th in the table courtesy of back-to-back victories over Everton and West Bromwich Albion and now sit just six points off the top six.

However, Hughes has suggested that he would be better served saving the transfer funds made available to him in January and using them during the summer window instead.

"We might look at the loan market but we're not close to anything really at the moment," he told reporters.

"I wouldn't have thought we'll be spending anything significant in the January window.

"We're better served keeping what finances we have available ready to go into the market in the summer. I think that would be our best policy."

Stoke are next in action against Manchester United on New Year's Day.
