Phil Brown has said that he will not leave Southend United to become assistant manager at Sunderland.
The 56-year-old has reportedly been approached by Sam Allardyce, who he worked as assistant manager before at Bolton Wanderers.
"We showed today there was nobody stepping away from their jobs, including me," Brown told reporters.
"Yes there will be speculation and it's flattering, especially as Sunderland are my home-town team who I grew up supporting.
"But I'm Southend United manager, end of story."
Southend are currently seventh in the League One table following their 1-0 victory over Port Vale.
