Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola is confident of having Ederson available for Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final tie with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
The 31-year-old missed the 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break due to abdominal problems, which also ruled him out of Brazil's World Cup qualifiers.
However, Guardiola revealed in his pre-game press conference that Ederson was on track to be fit for Sunday's game, but he refused to confirm whether the South American or Stefan Ortega would start in goal.
Ederson's comeback would leave Rodri (ACL), John Stones (thigh), Nathan Ake (foot) and Manuel Akanji (abductor) as the Citizens' only guaranteed absentees, although Oscar Bobb may not be risked for senior action just yet, despite returning to youth-team matches following his leg fracture.
A fit-again Ederson has our vote to get the nod in goal, behind an unchanged back four of Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol, who has seemingly shaken off a knock he sustained on international duty.
Nico Gonzalez is a shoo-in in the Rodri role, while Ilkay Gundogan may have played his way into a start in the double pivot thanks to his assist for Omar Marmoush in the recent stalemate with Brighton.
Marmoush will no doubt act in tandem with Erling Haaland, who became the quickest player to reach 100 Premier League goal involvements last time out, while Savinho and Jeremy Doku could cause serious problems for emergency full-backs Lewis Cook and Julio Soler.
Manchester City possible starting lineup:
Ederson; Lewis, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol; Gonzalez, Gundogan; Savinho, Marmoush, Doku; Haaland
