FA ask Swansea City boss Garry Monk to explain comments about referee

The FA contact Swansea City manager Garry Monk to explain his post-match comments about referee Michael Oliver following the Swans' defeat to Stoke City last Sunday.

The Football Association have confirmed that they have contacted Swansea City manager Garry Monk to clarify his comments regarding referee Michael Oliver.

After Swansea's 2-1 defeat to Stoke City last Sunday, Monk described the Potters' controversial first-half penalty as a "disgusting decision" by the referee.

Monk's criticism came after he labelled Victor Moses a cheat for going to ground following minimal contact from Angel Rangel during the game at the Britannia Stadium.

This morning, a statement from the English governing body was released saying: "The FA has contacted Swansea City manager Gary Monk to seek his observations in relation to post-match media comments he made after Swansea's game against Stoke City on October 19, 2014."

Monk has until October 27 to reply.
