Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup urges for goal-line technology sooner

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup says that he cannot understand why goal-line technology is not already regularly used in the Premier League.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has claimed that he cannot fathom why FIFA have not been quick to implement video technology.

The world governing body are expected to introduce two systems of goal-line technology on pitches up and down the country next year after numerous blunders prompted organisations to push for the new developments.

The issue was brought to light again on Monday evening when Everton striker Victor Anichebe's headed goal was ruled out, despite crossing the line, in the Toffees' 2-2 draw with Newcastle United at Goodison Park.

"Every time I see a 'goal' like that, and it happens two or three times a year in every country, I say the same thing," the South Wales Evening Post quotes Laudrup as saying.

"We are living in an era where we have technology, we have the new iphone, the ipad and computers, and in tennis for years they have used technology for decisions on the line.

"When are we going to have that technology in football? FIFA say they will do it, so then do it. If we can have all this other technology then come on, why can't we have this? I don't understand it."

Laudrup's Swans take on Everton this weekend.
