Swansea City boss Garry Monk labels links to Aston Villa "comical"

Swansea City manager Garry Monk rubbishes reports that he could replace Tim Sherwood at Aston Villa.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has described the rumours linking him to Tim Sherwood's job at Aston Villa as "comical".

Reports emerged earlier this week claiming that Villa would consider approaching Monk should they opt to part ways with Sherwood.

Since their opening-day victory over Bournemouth, the Midlands outfit have recorded one draw and seven defeats.

When asked about the rumours, Monk told Sky Sports News: "It's comical really. Those things don't help managers. Tim's doing an excellent job. He's working as hard as what I will be.

"You have to let managers get on with their job and be very supportive like I have here - great support around me, from above, from my staff and from the players."

Swansea will take on Villa on Saturday.
