Garry Monk says that he is not thinking about becoming the permanent Swansea City manager after he was chosen to take charge following Michael Laudrup's axe.

Garry Monk has claimed that his mind is not focused on becoming Swansea City manager on a permanent basis.

The 34-year-old, who has spent 10 years at the Liberty Stadium, has taken charge of the first team following the dismissal of Michael Laudrup on Tuesday.

"It would always be great to manage this club, it would be one of the proudest things I could ever do, but my focus is not on that - it's not on me, it's on the players and this game coming up," Monk said in a press conference.

Monk's first match in charge is this Saturday's highly anticipated South Wales derby against Cardiff City at the Liberty Stadium.
