Neil Taylor says that competing for Team GB at London 2012 will only help his chances of playing under new Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup.

Swansea City midfielder Neil Taylor believes that performing well for Team Great Britain in the Olympics will help to secure his place under new club manager Michael Laudrup.

The 23-year-old has claimed that he is eager to get off and running in the new season under the Welsh club's new Danish boss following the departure of Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool.

"Obviously we are sad to lose Brendan, but we have got ourselves a household name and he seems to be a great manager," thisissouthwales.co.uk quotes Taylor as saying.

"We will learn a lot from him and hopefully we can hit the ground running when the season starts. For every one of the Team GB players, the Olympics are great for our personal development and we will hit the ground running going into the Premier League with having some competitive games. Hopefully that will help me impress my new manager."

The Swans take on Queens Park Rangers on the opening day of the new 2012-13 season on August 18.
