Ashley Williams eager to leave Swansea City?

Ashley Williams will reportedly decide against signing a new Swansea City contract in favour of searching for a fresh challenge.

Swansea City captain Ashley Williams has reportedly decided to look for a move away from the club at the end of the season.

The central defender, who joined Swansea in 2008, has been a key member of the squad since they arrived in the Premier League, but he is believed to be eager to join one of the leading clubs in the top tier of English football.

According to the Daily Mail, Williams will refuse to put pen to paper on a new deal should Swansea decide to offer him a contract extension in the summer.

The 29-year-old was repeatedly linked with a transfer to Arsenal before the start of the season, and the London club could be persuaded to reignite their interest in the Welshman if Thomas Vermaelen leaves the Emirates Stadium in the near future.

Williams will see his current contract expire at the end of next season.
