Sydney FC stage fightback to beat rivals Western Sydney Wanderers

Sydney FC complete a comeback to beat rivals Western Sydney Wanderers 3-2 in the A-League.

Sydney FC fought back to beat their fierce rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in a five-goal thriller, after trailing 2-0 in the first half.

Mark Bridge opened the scoring for the visitors in the opening 20 minutes, only for Sydney goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic to palm the ball into his own net, failing to clear a looped shot.

Corey Gameiro scored his second goal in as many games to give his side hope on the stroke of half time.

The hosts then equalised through Sasa Ognenovski after a scrambled corner deflected off several players and dribbled into the empty net.

The intensity of the derby appeared too much for some as Vitor Saba saw red for a reckless lunge with 20 minutes remaining.

Sydney completed the comeback as Alex Brosque took advantage of his side's extra man advantage, smashing the ball past Ante Covic in the Wanderers goal.
