AS Monaco see off Toulouse

AS Monaco reduce the gap to Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win against Toulouse.

AS Monaco have moved to within two points of Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain with a win away at Toulouse.

There was an early let off for Toulouse as Christopher Aurier hesitated on the ball just outside of his penalty area. Valere Germain showed good strength to nick the ball off him, but the referee gave a free kick.

However, the first chance of the match fell to the home side. Ben Yedder ran down the right and pulled the ball back to Martin Braithwaite, who hit a low shot straight at Danijel Subasic.

Braithwaite had another chance, but after Adrien Regattin had found him with a cross, he headed over from eight yards.

The home side then had a great chance to take the lead. Etienne Didot poked a shot that was saved by Subasic; the rebound came to Yedder, but he put his effort wide of an open goal.

Despite Monaco struggling for much of the first half, they took the lead with 36 minutes played. Geoffrey Kondogbia worked the ball down the left and set up Lavyin Kurzawa, who made no mistake from 10 yards.

Radamel Falcao then went down inside the box but got back on his feet and saw his effort cleared off the line. However, the referee appeared to have his whistle in his mouth and looked set to point to the spot until Falcao got up.

Nevertheless, Monaco continued to push on and Ricardo Carvalho had a header saved, before Falcao rounded goalkeeper Ali Ahamada, but Abel Aguilar was able to clear off the line.

Toulouse fought back and went close to scoring an equaliser. Regattin's low cross was met at the near post by Yedder, who shot straight at Subasic.

Monaco confirmed the win when Lucas Ocampos found the net with a bicycle kick.
