Nuri Sahin says that the players rather than the management are to blame for Turkey's poor run of results during World Cup qualification.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin has insisted that Turkey's players should take the blame for their indifferent form during the World Cup qualifiers.

With five matches played, Turkey are nine points behind Group D leaders the Netherlands, while Hungary and Romania are four points better off in joint-second place.

"It's totally our fault. Some of us are performing at our club, but not with the national team. Maybe I am on this list too," Sahin told Milliyet.

"If we can't qualify for World Cup in Brazil, we really need to think about it. Right now, our situation is in the hands of other teams. We should have got better results in our earlier games."

Sahin joined Dortmund on loan from Real Madrid in January.
