Slavisa Jokanovic bemoans 'sluggish' Watford

Watford head coach Slavisa Jokanovic believes that a lack of urgency was at the root of his team's surprise defeat to Birmingham City.

Watford head coach Slavisa Jokanovic has blamed his team's lack of urgency for their surprise 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City.

The Hornets were knocked off the top of the Championship table on Tuesday night as a late goal from Clayton Donaldson saw them beaten at St Andrew's.

While refusing to use tiredness as an excuse for the result, Jokanovic believes that a sluggish display from his side played a key part in the outcome.

"I am disappointed because it wasn't a good result for us. We tried to take control of the game and we had possession of the ball but we played slowly," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We made some changes because we had some injured people and Fernando [Forestieri] didn't start the last game. It's not an excuse; I don't believe my team was tired."

Watford have the chance to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they travel to promotion rivals Ipswich Town.
