Watford boss Marco Silva: 'Crystal Palace defeat is unbelievable'

Silva: 'Palace defeat is unbelievable'

Watford boss Marco Silva describes his side's dramatic 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace as "unbelievable" after witnessing his team concede two late goals.

Watford boss Marco Silva has claimed that his side need to start to show a ruthless streak in order to remain in the top half of the Premier League standings.

On Tuesday night, Watford went into an early lead against Crystal Palace, only for the Eagles to score two goals in the closing minutes of the game to seal a dramatic victory at Selhurst Park.

Silva has described the result as "unbelievable", but acknowledged that the Hornets did not do enough to seal the three points against their rivals.

The 40-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I think we didn't deserve it - it was something unbelievable. It can happen with our team. We need to learn fast to play at this level.

"This is football. We need to play until 95 minutes - we did everything really well until 80 minutes. They didn't have shot on our goal.

"We had a lot of chances to kill and in this level you need to kill the match. We had a one-on-one with their goalkeeper but didn't kill the match. We need to keep our organisation until the end of the match even if we did lose one player."

Despite recording just one point from four matches, Watford sit in ninth position in the table.
