Anders Lindegaard eyes number one shirt

West Brom new boy Anders Lindegaard aims to earn the number one shirt at The Hawthorns following his Bosman move from Manchester United.

West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has told manager Tony Pulis that he will not settle for a place on the bench following his Manchester United exit on a Bosman.

The Dane, 31, signed a two-year deal with the Baggies on Monday after spending much of his five-year stint at Old Trafford behind David de Gea in the pecking order.

"It's a great opportunity and I'm thankful for getting it," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "I want the club to do well first of all and I want to do well myself.

"I'll hopefully get a lot of games under my belt and help the club to do good."

With Ben Foster not expected back until October, Lindegaard will challenge Boaz Myhill for the number one shirt.
