Steve Clarke is hoping that he can convince all five of his strikers to stay at West Bromwich Albion.

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has revealed that he is keen for all five of his centre-forwards to stay at the Hawthorns.

This summer Clarke has added Romelu Lukaku and Markus Rosenberg to a frontline that already included Peter Odemwingie, Shane Long and Marc-Antoine Fortune.

Despite admitting that it will be difficult to keep the quintet happy, Clarke is hoping that they will all thrive on the competition that exists.

"I would hope to keep all the strikers. Whether that's possible, I'm not sure, because you don't know how people are going to react to the competition for places," said the boss.

"So we will have to see, but I expect to keep them all. Competition for places is going to be fierce and that's what you're after.

"If I've learnt anything over the years it's you can't have enough good strikers in your squad. Ultimately, you have to score goals to succeed."

The Baggies open up their Premier League campaign at home to Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.
