West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has revealed his disappointment after his side slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home to Newcastle United.
The Baggies found themselves 3-0 down at the break thanks to Papiss Demba Cisse's brace and Hatem Ben Arfa's finish.
Shane Long pulled a goal back after half time, but West Brom failed to breach the Magpies defence again.
"The major fault for our side is that we went 3-0 down," Hodgson told Sky Sports News. "We were mugged on two very good, quick counter attacks. Those goals came when we had the ball and we really should have been doing something with it.
"The players, in the second half, had a good go at trying to retrieve the situation and get a bit of pride back. We won the second half, but that's the only minor consolation that I can take from the game.
"This is a setback and a major disappointment, and we knew today wouldn't be easy. Newcastle have been exceptional this season."
The defeat has left West Brom 14th in the Premier League table.
