Tony Pulis pleased with reception for Saido Berahino

Tony Pulis admits that he was pleased to see the West Bromwich Albion fans give Saido Berahino a warm reception on Saturday.

Tony Pulis has admitted that he was pleased to see the West Bromwich Albion supporters give Saido Berahino a warm reception as his side played out a goalless draw with Southampton.

Berahino's future was the subject of speculation throughout the summer, and the 22-year-old used Twitter to suggest that he would never play for the Baggies again after they rejected four bids from Tottenham Hotspur.

After leaving him out of the squad before the international break, Pulis introduced the forward from the bench on Saturday and he is hopeful that both he and the fans will move on.

"I thought it was a very positive reaction," the West Brom boss told Sky Sports News.

"The lad has made mistakes and I think all of us have made mistakes in our lives. I think you look back at times, and I'm sure Saido will look back in a few years time and think what he did and the way he did things was not the right way, especially for everybody connected to West Brom .

"However, he's a young lad and hopefully he will learn by his mistakes and move on. We all have to move on as well."

West Brom moved up to 13th in the table with the draw.
