Preview: West Ham United Women vs. Chelsea Women - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Women's Super League clash between West Ham United Women and Chelsea Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

After winning the FA Cup at the weekend, Chelsea Women will focus on the Women's Super League title race when they travel across London to face West Ham United Women on Wednesday.

West Ham are winless in nine league games, while the Blues have won their last four matches across all competitions.

Since beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in December, West Ham have endured a poor run of form, picking up just two points from their last nine WSL matches.

After playing out a goalless draw with Liverpool at the beginning of April, the Hammers have gone on to lose consecutive games to Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion.

With six points separating them from the sole relegation place, West Ham are still not mathematically safe, but their current 17-point tally is expected to be enough to keep them in the top flight.

However, Paul Konchesky's position has come under scrutiny following recent results, and the West Ham boss will be desperate for his side to show signs of improvement in their final three matches.

That could prove difficult on Wednesday though, as West Ham have already lost 3-1 and 7-0 to Chelsea this season in the WSL and League Cup respectively.

Chelsea will head into Wednesday's encounter in a celebratory mood after they showcased their winning mentality to edge out Manchester United in Sunday's FA Cup final.

Pernille Harder came off the bench to play a decisive role, as she set up Sam Kerr to tap home the all-important goal in the 68th minute.

Emma Hayes's side held firm to claim a 1-0 victory and win the FA Cup for the third successive season and for the fifth time in their history.

They will now quickly turn their attention to the WSL title race, where they will be looking to get the better of league leaders Man United once again.

With one point separating them from Man United, Chelsea know that if they win Wednesday's game in hand then they will move to the top of the table as they look to retain their WSL crown.

Team News

West Ham are unable to call upon long-term absentee Jess Ziu, who continues to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Abbey-Leigh Stringer has not featured since February, and the midfielder remains a doubt for Wednesday's encounter.

Academy graduate Princess Ademiluyi is expected to feature on the bench again after she made her senior debut as a second-half substitute against Brighton.

As for the visitors, they remain without the services of Millie Bright and Fran Kirby, who are both expected to miss the rest of the season.

Following their recent busy schedule, Hayes is likely to make a number of changes to her side, especially with a tricky fixture against Arsenal coming up this weekend.

Zecira Musovic, Jess Carter, Jelena Cankovic, Sophie Ingle and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd could all be brought into the starting lineup.

West Ham United Women possible starting lineup:
Arnold; Shimizu, Parker, Fisk, Cissoko, Smith; Hayashi, Parker; Evans, Brynjardottir, Snerle; Asseyie

Chelsea Women possible starting lineup:
Musovic; Perisset, Mjelde, Eriksson, Carter; Ingle, Cuthbert; Rytting Kaneryd, Cankovic, Reiten; Kerr

We say: West Ham United Women 0-4 Chelsea Women

Chelsea have been in impressive form in recent weeks, and we think that they will continue their positive run of results by claiming a comfortable victory over a West Ham side that are low on confidence.
