Carlton Cole gives Sam Allardyce backing

West Ham striker Carlton Cole is confident that manager Sam Allardyce will get the team winning games again soon.

West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has backed manager Sam Allardyce to turn the team's ailing fortunes around.

The Hammers have failed to win any of their last seven games in the Premier League, leaving them in 10th place in the table.

Their most recent outing saw them suffer a 3-0 defeat away to Arsenal on Saturday.

Despite their struggle for form, Cole is confident that he and his teammates can enjoy a strong finish to the season.

"It's been a disappointing run but we'll come through it," he told the club's official website. "Sam will just keep drilling into our heads that what we're doing is unacceptable, so we'll come good in the end.

"We just need to get that win on the board. Once we get that next win, I think we'll be fine, but right now we're in a lull and we're trying to dig our way out of it and get some points on the table.

"At the start of the season, everything was going for us, but things have started to tail-off a little bit. I think mentally we're a bit comfortable because we're not fighting a relegation battle."

West Ham have the chance to end their winless run this Saturday when they welcome Sunderland to Upton Park.
