West Ham United defender Reece Oxford to join RB Leipzig in January?

RB Leipzig are reportedly closing in on the permanent signing of West Ham United defender Reece Oxford, who is currently on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

RB Leipzig have reportedly agreed a deal with West Ham United to sign defender Reece Oxford.

At the start of the season, West Ham allowed Oxford to pen a season-long loan with Borussia Monchengladbach and despite making just three appearances in the Bundesliga, the German club had expressed an interest in completing a permanent transfer.

However, according to BBC Sport, Leipzig have stepped in with an offer of £8m, which could potentially rise to nearly £17m.

A section of West Ham supporters had wanted manager David Moyes to recall the 19-year-old instead of spending funds on a new player with similar attributes, but it appears that the Hammers are prepared to cash in on one of their top prospects.

Should a deal be completed, Oxford will leave the Premier League side having made a total of 14 appearances in all competitions.
