West Ham United line up Alberto Gilardino move?

West Ham United are reportedly considering a January move for Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino as an alternative to Lacina Traore.

West Ham United are reportedly lining up a January move for Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino in a bid to bolster their forward options.

Despite Andy Carroll returning from injury, the Hammers are thought to be eager to sign a new striker by the end of the transfer window.

Now, with target Lacina Traore believed to be favouring a move to Everton over Upton Park, attentions have turned to Italian forward Gilardino, according to The Express.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a summer move to Toronto FC, although the MLS side's interest has waned since the deal to sign Jermaine Defoe from Tottenham Hotspur was agreed.

Gilardino has spent his entire career in Italy and it is said that he would be tempted by a potential move to the Premier League.

The former AC Milan man has scored eight goals in 18 league appearances this season.
