Wigan Athletic midfielder Ben Watson is reportedly on the list to be called up to play for Team Great Britain in the London Olympics this summer.
Head coach Stuart Pearce is believed to have drafted the 26-year-old into the squad, despite making just 14 starts in the Premier League this season, according to the Daily Star.
Wigan captain Gary Caldwell is also thought to be targeted by Pearce. However, Latics manager Roberto Martinez may have to veto the duo's move to the Olympic squad.
"Some players could need six weeks of recovery and it will be physically impossible," Martinez is quoted as saying.
The men's team will prepare for this summer's tournament with a warm-up game against Brazil on July 20.
